We help bring the Body of Christ to our parish family

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are lay parishioners who help the priest give Holy Communion at Mass, and bring the Eucharist to parishioners who are sick or homebound.

At STM we serve in three groups, one for each weekend Mass. Each Mass has a group leader and twelve communion stations, and extra ministers join us for Christmas, the Easter Triduum and other special celebrations.

How your roster works

Our roster runs on WhatsApp, so there is no app to install and no password to remember.

  1. Get your link

Your coordinator sends you a personal link on WhatsApp. Save it — it opens your own page.

  2. See your duties

The month's roster arrives on WhatsApp, with a reminder a few days before you serve.

  3. Can't make it?

Tap "I can't serve" on your page. No need to hunt for a replacement yourself.

  4. A stand-in is found

Other ministers are asked, and the first "Yes" takes your place. You'll be told who it is.

Lost your link, or changed your phone number? Ask your group leader or the coordinator, and they'll send you a new one.

Thinking of serving?

Many of us began by simply saying yes when asked. If you feel called to this ministry, whether you are a student, a young working adult or newly married, speak to any group leader after Mass or contact the parish office.

Ministers are prepared and commissioned by the parish, so you won't be doing this alone.

“Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.”1 Corinthians 10:17

Our patron, St Thomas More

Thomas More (1478–1535) was a London lawyer, scholar and family man, the author of Utopia, and Lord Chancellor of England under King Henry VIII.

When he refused to accept the king as head of the Church in England, he was imprisoned in the Tower of London and executed on 6 July 1535. He went to his death with good humour and a clear conscience.

Canonised in 1935, he was named patron of statesmen and politicians by Pope John Paul II in 2000. His feast is kept on 22 June.

“The King's good servant, but God's first.”

Our parish home

The Church of St Thomas More is a parish of the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur. After nearly twenty years without a church of their own, the Catholics of Subang Jaya saw it dedicated and opened by Archbishop Murphy Pakiam on 10 April 2011.
